Full Bleed Reverse Prints
Because inks are translucent, they cannot be printed on black tape. In order to achieve this effect, the background is printed on light colored tape and the letters or design are reverse printed, allowing the tape to show through. This causes an issue that doesn’t normally happen with positive prints. Because the printing plate must be wrapped around the print cylinder, where the two ends of the plate meet there is a gap of approximately 1/8” where no ink can print.
In order to avoid the gap between impressions, a laser engraved continuous plate must be ordered mounted to it’s own cylinder (much like a tire is mounted to a rim).
